General description

Unlike the new VW Beetle, this retro pastiche of its famous forrunner hit the spot thanks to a great chassis and sky-high feel-good factor.

Nearly a 2 seater - you can squeeze people in the back if you try. Similarly not much space in the boot

Things to look for when buying one

Early cars sufered from several quality glitches but later cars were much better. Make sure it has had the fuel-filler neck earthing recall work done. Also check for dodgy electrics caused by water leaks.

Over-specified cars - lots of buyers ticked a lot of boxes on the options list but don't be tempted to buy for kit you don't want. Try to find one without alloy wheels for example but when you see the standard plastic wheel trims you'll realise why so many buyers chose to pay the extra dosh.

The good bits

Handles like the proverbial Go-Kart. Stylish in the extreme.

Holds it's value very well but now available for under 4 grand.

The not so good bits

There not much mini about this Mini, except the space behind the front seats. Engines are nothing special.
