General description

New big small car from the maker of many good small cars. Selling very well in continental Europe.

Jointly developed with GM - their model is called the Vauxhall Corsa in the UK.

Slightly revised 'Series 2' has just gone on sale with revised spec (Bluetooth, for example) and cheaper safety options - ESP is now £200 (was £450) - don't leave home without it.

There's now a 'GP' derivative which stands for 'Grand Prix' which is pushing it a bit, even if you go for a red one.

Things to look for when buying one

A bit of good luck with the one you buy ? Unfortunately not proving any more reliable than previous Fiats - good job that new ones come with a 5 year warranty then.

The good bits

More space than most small cars but then it's bigger than most small cars.

More up-market than previous Fiats.

Stylish , in an Italian sort of way.

There's a 5-year warranty if buying new or nearly new but then you might need it.

The not so good bits

Fiat are well known for high depreciation so buy well or get a second-hand bargain.
