Toyota's big, small '3+1' seater car - It's smaller than an Aygo but cost considerably more.
They've employed a clever gearbox arrangement to get the front wheels as far forward as possible, position the front passengers as far forward as possible and so make some space for 2 rear seats in a similar overall length to the SMART ForTwo.
Be careful to buy one for the right reasons - there are very good cars for 2/3rds the price of the iQ.
If you're buying second-hand, make sure it's had the new accelerator pedal fitted following the recent recall.
It's small and very clever. It'll be economical, cheap to run and of course reliable. Easy to park too.
It's nippy and the ride's pretty good for such a short car.
The '3+1' seating (3 adults + 1 smalladult/child) is still cosy - fill up all the seats and there's no boot space.
Over-the-shoulder visibility, at junctions for example, is poor due to the wide B-pillars.
The interior trim is low-rent for a Toyota - it makes the SMART look almost luxurious.
