Once you're over the hurdle of passing the driving tests there is still a lot you can learn about driving. Extra driver tuition such as Pass Plus, skid control and towing is a good idea and can be a real hoot.
You won't have driven on motorways ( you're not allowed to as a learner driver), you may not have experienced severe weather conditions and you've probably not learned much about car control.
Pass Plus
Pass Plus is an additional course of instruction which will give you a much wider experience of driving. But why do it? Because you'll be a better driver and many insurance companies will give you a significant discount off your insurance, so it'll pay for itself very quickly. |

Car Control
There are many people willing to teach you about car control. It may not seem that you need it but do you really know what to do if you start slipping and a sliding?
Better to get some skills before you really need them - the web makes them easy to find.
Towing
If you pass your driving test now you are only entitled to tow a trailer (or very small caravan) weighing less than 750kg and a total 'train weight' of less than 3500kg without passing an additional test. It used to be the case that you were allowed to tow up to 3500kg and a total 'train weight' of less than 8500kg but this all changed in 1997.
If you want to learn more about towing , visit the government website.
Luckily there plenty of people who will teach you to tow properly and help you pass this extra test if you need to. |
